 20 century boys is the story about how imagination takes shape in a disastrous monster .In the starting of the manga we are introduce to kengi ,kengi is the main protagonist of the story (.Ammmm in the starting at least :) ){spoiler alert}. Kengi and his friends in their childhood make a story of how they will save the world from evil . They make story of which contain things like deadly virus and robot try to destroy the world.

After when they grow up. They starting to recognising the resent event are nothing but there childhood stories .Then they try to find who is the main person behind this .And how he get their childhood stories .Some how he get that probably the man behind every think is their childhood friend or classmate .The whole story begin in this way
